Did Jesus ever actually command tithing — or did the church invent a financial obligation Jesus never imposed on anyone?
Tithing is treated as non-negotiable in most American churches — 10% off the top, first fruits, give until it hurts. But Jesus almost never mentions it, and when He does, He's criticizing the Pharisees, not commanding His disciples. Paul talks about cheerful giving but never names a percentage. So where did the 10% rule come from — the Bible, or the budget meeting? Pick a side and defend it.
