Did early Christians actually expect Jesus to physically return to Earth — or have we spent 2,000 years waiting for something He never literally promised?
Jesus told His disciples 'some of you standing here will not taste death before the Son of Man comes in His kingdom.' He's been gone 2,000 years. Every generation has expected His return in their lifetime. So the question deserves a hard look: did Jesus promise a literal, physical, visible return to this planet — or did the church turn apocalyptic metaphor into a doctrinal cornerstone and build an entire End Times industry on it? Pick a side and defend it.
